The release of the iPad changed the way museums and institutions use touchscreens for exhibits. At The Field Museum, our goal was to design a series of informational screens that supplemented the Biomechanics exhibit with audio, images and interactive graphics.
We collaborated with exhibit designers to ensure our designs were cohesive with the physical space. The result was a series of themes that focused on living organisms as machines built by evolution. There was a special focus on the user experience as we determined the appropriate amount of content for someone walking through an exhibit as opposed to sitting at a desk with a laptop.
The matching typography and color palette blends screen design with the physical space. Detailed interactions open videos and audio to form a complete interactive system.
